Turkic Evangelical Television, Turkey

When the Turkic Evangelical Television ministry began to produce the first Christian television channel in the Turkic languages to Central Asia and North Africa they weren’t sure what the response would be. Last year over 200,000 people responded to the programs by letter, email, telephone or SMS. In addition, over 180,000 people visited the accompanying website where over 26,000 programs were downloaded. These results have been overwhelming in a context where individuals propagating the Christian message to Muslims can be sent to jail and even sentenced to death. Spreading the Christian message through satellite television is now one of the safest and most effective means to reach the Muslim world.
