Ming De Gu, Myanmar

Ming De Gu came to the Lashio Grace Haven orphanage when she was eight years old. Her father had passed away leaving her mother a destitute widow unable to care for her children. Though sad to leave her family Ming was happy to receive food everyday and have the opportunity to go to school. The orphanage also provided her with medical care to treat parasites and infections she had most likely contracted through contaminated drinking water and poor hygiene practices. Ming continues to work hard in her classes, studying diligently in the evenings. Through the Grace Haven children’s program she heard about Jesus for the first time. After being at Grace Haven for nearly six months, the girl once gestured to her mother, upon her visit, not to kneel before other gods but to pray to the God that has helped her. Ming’s teachers hope that her love for God grows with her until one day she will preach to her own people. Today Grace Haven Ministries cares for 2,327 children in 14 orphanages in Myanmar.
